In his spare time Col. Potter relaxed by painting. The pictures hung on the walls of his office, or, like the painting he did of the whole gang, were sent home to Mildred.

A lot of rumors surround who actually painted the pictures seen in the show. It has been said that Harry Morgan himself did them or maybe even Gary Burghoff (who is a talented artist) was responsible. But it is more likely that a local artist was employed as and when a painting was required.
