In 1991 Michael Hirsh approached CBS with the idea of doing a show to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of M*A*S*H. Fox agreed to the show and asked Gene Reynolds and Burt Metcalfe to act as executive producers.

Written, Produced, and Directed by Michael Hirsh
Co-Producers: Joel Lipman, Donna K.Rutley
Executive Producers: Gene Reynolds, Burt Metcalfe
Hosted By Shelley Long
Running time approx 70mins

It was suggested that Susan St. James host the show but she was unavailable. So Shelley Long (she played Nurse Mendenhal in 'Bottle Fatigue') was chosen.

The show opens with Shelley Long arriving at the Fox Ranch (the location of the exterior scenes for the series) by helicopter. After a short introduction the opening scenes of the pilot episode are shown.

All the actors give an insight into the characters they played. Larry Gelbart, Gene Reynolds and Burt Metcalfe are also interviewed.
Larry Linville tells of his decision to leave M*A*S*H after he began to feel he had taken the character of Frank Burns as far as he could.
Harry Morgan is seen making his first appearance, playing Gen Steele in 'The General Flipped At Dawn'. You also get to see a great blooper with McLean Stevenson and Gary Burghoff fooling around.

Larry Gelbart and Gene Reynolds talk about the reason for Henry Blake's death after McLean Stevenson had decided to leave the show. Scenes from Abyssinia Henry are intercut with Gary Burghoff and McLean Stevenson talking about their feelings during the filming of the episode.

"Memories of M*A*S*H" also includes a section featuring many of the famous (or soon to be famous) guest stars that appeared throughout the series, including Patrick Swayze and Leslie Nielson.

Klinger gets his own small section in which you get to see some of his craziest outfits.

The final part of "Memories of M*A*S*H" uses scenes taken from the The Interview Clete Roberts is again asking questions but this time it's the actors themselves who answer and not the characters they played.
