Is the series available on video?

Since Columbia House lost the rights no other company seems to offer the series on video. If you are an existing subscriber to Columbia House you will continue to receive tapes (check site for the full list). The final episode is also available but may be harder to find. CBS/Fox Video released this around 1986, but it was set at a price for rental stores to buy for their rental stock, not at a price for purchase by general consumers.

Where was M*A*S*H filmed?: The interior shots of the series were filmed on stage 9 at the 20th Century Fox Studios in Hollywood (the same soundstage was used for AfterMASH, LA Law, and now NYPD Blue). The external scenes were filmed at the Fox Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains located in Calabasas, California, about 6 miles inland from Malibu Beach on Malibu Canyon Road. This has since been renamed to Malibu Creek State Park.

What happened to Spearchucker Jones?: Spearchucker left the series when the writers discovered that there were no black surgeons in the Korean war.
Is the actress Terry Farrell (Star Trek DS9) related to Mike Farrell?: No. But Judy Farrell who played various nurses in the series was, at one time, married to Mike Farrell.

Why did some of the actors decide to leave the show?: Because of the success of the show McLean Stevenson became a frequent guest and host on the 'Tonight Show" Throughout the run of M*A*S*H he was constantly arguing with the studio about the conditions the actors had to work in so when NBC offered him the chance of a long term contract he decided to leave.
Wayne Rogers wasn't happy with the way his character was developing. Pretty early on it was obvious that Hawkeye was the main character and Trapper was just his sidekick.
Gary Burghoff said that doing the show had become a strain on his family life. After the first 3 years he was in fewer episodes and decided to leave after year 7. He came back in year 8 for a two part good-bye show.
